Bauple
was called Raby, the Public Lands Office in 1896 asked if it would be
possible to change the name from Raby to Bauple as Raby was confusion
with Raby Bay in Brisbane (see letter) |
Bauple
was spelled after the sugar mill. It is believed that
Captain
Alex MacKellar spelled Bauple. |
The
Bauple, Bopple, Baupal confusion
The post office used a different spelling (Baupal) the school and the
mountains were spelled (Bopple) and the locals and the sugar mill
spelled (Bauple) This went on until 1913 when the Dept of Public Lands
Brisbane sent a letter asking for the correct spelling.

was discover at the Bopple Mnts just west of Bauple by Allan
Cunningham in 1828.
